ENT
Ear, nose and throat care including hearing and sinus treatment
Overview
ENT covers the ear, nose, throat and related structures of the head and neck. Complaints such as blocked nose, sore throat, hearing loss and giddiness are among the most common reasons people visit a doctor.
Assessment usually combines endoscopic examination with hearing tests, so the cause can be located precisely before medical or surgical treatment is chosen.

Frequently asked questions
When do tonsils need removal?
Usually when infections are frequent each year, or when enlarged tonsils obstruct breathing and sleep.
Is hearing loss reversible?
Loss caused by wax, infection or fluid often is. Nerve-related loss usually needs a hearing aid or implant.
Should I use ear buds to clean my ears?
No. They push wax deeper and can injure the eardrum. Wax is best removed at the clinic.
